X: So here I am…yet what is “I”? Is “I” a state of
being? A realization of something? What defines
what “I” is? (Looks around, spotting an object) A
desk! Yes, “I” is a desk…at least speaking in
terms from the desk… No no no…”I” is no desk:
The desk does not breathe, does not live, at least
speaking in terms from me. Me? “Me” and “I”
must be equivalent, yet what they refer to is
indistinct-able from what surrounds the source.
What could “I” possibly be? The old saying goes
“an eye for an eye”; an eye equals an “I”…or
maybe not… Or maybe who…? If “I” is a who,
then “me” must also be a who, and a who is
definitely a person. Yet what is the reason for
being an “I” or a “me”? Ah hah! I am an “I”, a
“me” a who! …That was pointless, but what
really is my point? I know I am a thinking being,
one able to contemplate my own existence as I do
now; I can work, make a difference, show my
skills; I can eat, sleep, breathe, live! But what am I
really here for? I take orders from my bosses, do
as my friends do, vote for the most popular
candidates, wear only the most fashionable
clothing; I do nothing wrong, nothing out of place,
but what am I really here for? Hear hear! Now I
have confused myself. One simple solution…there
is no “I”, that frightful word needs neither
questioning nor definition, “I” is useless.
