Even though this darkness covers me,

Masking me, and choking me,

It’s not that hard to look into your eyes,

And know that the world is beautiful.

Even though your smile is distant,

From my confined space I can still see,

The words coming from closed lips,

That you would never say, but I can still dream.

Even though you’ve made up your mind,

And I guess so have I, it breaks my heart,

Constantly changing and overcoming these fears,

That I could never put behind me.

Even though you’re far from me now,

I can still look into your faded eyes,

That once looked my way, though I smile,

Because I know that the world is beautiful.
