The Earth Longs To...

The earth longs to swallow me whole

As everything on the walls shake

Within my mind

I see a figure before me

Someone who stole my peace

Who then slinked away, taking no claim

Bringing me to my knees

As waves crash over me

The earth longs to drown me in my sleep

As I fight the dark waters trying to envelope me

The figure has come closer

But doesn't seem to want me to see

A blank face in the distance

With no distinctive features that I can see

The earth longs to bury me

As the sands of time swallow me whole

More like a sandstorm, for I cannot see

The figure that once stood before me

Closing my eyes, I trudge onward into the storm

The earth longs to blind me

As the flashing lights dance through my core

Frozen in place, as tears hit the soil

I lose sight of the figure in the distance

Falling to my knees as the tears fall freely
