The Stranger In The Mirror

Folder:
Depression

Tonight, I don't feel like myself.

I smile when I have to,

laugh when it's expected,

and pretend I'm okay

when I'm fucking falling apart.

I'm surrounded by people,

yet I've never felt so alone.

Disconnected from the world,

from everything I love,

and especially from myself.

The mirror has become

my own personal hell.

Every flaw screams louder

than anything beautiful

I could ever see in myself.

I hate the way I look.

I hate what I see.

And I fucking hate

that I can't look at my reflection

without wanting to turn away.

I'm tired of fighting

a war nobody can see.

Tired of pretending

I'm comfortable in my own skin.

Tired of wondering

if everyone else sees

the same disgusting reflection

that stares back at me.

When did I become

my own worst enemy?

When did loving myself

become so fucking impossible?

I want to feel something again.

I want to recognize

the woman in the mirror.

But tonight,

I don't have a beautiful ending.

I don't have the strength

to pretend I'm okay.

I'm just a woman

who feels lost inside herself,

trying to remember

what it feels like

to exist without hating

the person she's become.

And maybe tomorrow,

I'll find a little more of me.

But tonight,

I'm just trying to survive

the reflection

I can no longer bear to see.
