What is it to know life? Is to eat, drink, and sleep?
Is it to labor, is it to struggle--is it to be proud or just meek?
What is it to know love? Is it to lust or envy?
Or is love something much more, leaving all other quests empty...
What is it to know sorrow? What is it to know peace?
Is it not to rejoice and suffer, until one’s breath shall cease?
Are we not made from God’s earth--and to God’s earth we must return?
Therefore should we not shun things trivial--and constantly strive to learn?
Not learn of temporal things but things that will last forever,
Studying how to give and receive love, making ties that can’t be severed
To love is to sacrifice--it is to delight to give than receive,
True death is in hopelessness, true life is to believe.
If we truly care for those that surround us, we should desire to be a servant
For this Jesus done for us--and the reward is surely perfect,
And as the years grow into eternity, and the days into months,
I pray that all who hear these words--will seek the truth--
And live just once
I just read this out loud to my daughter & roommmate, & they were both really blessed by it...me, too...you really have a wonderful way of getting right to the point, & of cutting through all the flowery illusions many people carry about life, & just hitting the nail on the head! I really, really enjoy your writings, & look forward to seeing more!
Write on, brother in the Lord!
