there was a promise that you made long ago

that sometimes I cling to when I'm feeling alone

that you would never leave us or forsake us

and I know it's true cause you proved it on the cross

the scars cannot be washed off of your hands and feet

that is why I know that you will never ever leave me

and sometimes that is the only thing that gets me through

and that is when I learned that all I need is you
