I remember the night you cried,
the night you thought I died,
and how you begged me
to give it all up and go into teaching.
The nights I didn't come home.
The times you chose to be alone.
I think we both forgot
that each of us carried
a different burden
and had simply
worn down under the weight
meant for more than two,
but each of us carrying it alone.
And I will always remember
how you walked pass me,
wouldn't look at me,
said you loved me,
and walked away.

Watching puppies is insightful, examining connotations, the layers are fine, the immediacy, the thereness - equals clarity - pure observation commingled with emotion - awesome write! ~~A~~
Thank you Lady A!!!
I thought the title might be a little too obscure. Probably should've posted elsewhere but for several reasons, I posted here. I've updated the title, but this one is chasing me! ;-)
Titles
I seldom worry about titles - end of love affairs or parting or separations are tough enough - the title has meaning to you and that's all that's important really - slc

Ahh, but the chase...the pursuit to close the circle on a poem, and so often I feel I fail before I begin. This is a perfect example. I don't think my connotation with the title translates well to a reader. Grrrrrr! Maybe I'm just chasing my own tail! As always, I value your insights & guidance, Lady A! ;-)
