The people out there are all the same

Have the same hearts and want the same gains

You stare away and creep on by

I didn’t suspect I would catch your eye

The silence over takes the noise we make

We try and act, but we always fake

You say the words that give us hope

Then down the road you gag and choke

Returning enough to get my attention back

I figure it’s not good to overreact

I see the longing eyes that might have held true

You seem to have forgotten what to do

I can see it doesn’t really interest you

But I hope later on you see right through

I’ve given up because you never gave
