Behind My Eyes

I'm like a river flowing, streaming down a mountain...

just trying to make my mark upon this world.

And like the unbelievable, oh so beautiful ocean...

with a tide that comes high and low.

Sometimes I'm on top of the mountain,

but others I'm trapped in the valley below.

Here I am Lord, pleading my life to you...

I know I can because you see what I'm going through...

You see the pain in my eyes when others see a smile.

You feel my hurt when others just ignore.

You raise me up when I feel like falling down.

When I'm drowning, you swim me up to shore.

When they see a face, behind my eyes, you see something more.

I believe that faith is truly the answer...

to the questions life sends at me.

So many tell me to open my eyes, but they don't understand...

sometimes you have to be blind before you can truly see.

This world says faith is nothing but a myth...

but I say I believe that it's a gift.

So, here I am Lord offering you my life...

Oh please come, and save me again tonight!!!

You see the pain in my eyes when others see a smile.

You feel my hurt when others just ignore.

You raise me up when I feel like falling down.

When I'm drowning, you swim me up to shore.

When they see a face, behind my eyes, you see something more.

A face that lies, the binds that tie...

all of these are part of me.

A faith that proves that we're loved by you...

It took three nails for me to see!

Now that I'm blind I believe I'll survive,

and I know that I believe

in a faith that heals and the truth that reveals

what's in the light so that I can see...

as you see...

You see the pain in my eyes when others see a smile.

You feel my hurt when others just ignore.

You raise me up when I feel like falling down.

When I'm drowning, you swim me up to shore.

When they see a face, behind my eyes, you see something more.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Jesus Christ has saved me yet again from my own sinful ways.  He is a true friend, and a true friend can see behind the fake smile we all put on our faces when we're down.  They can see the hurt and feel it too.  I cherish these friends of mine!
