when the desire comes I'm remembering how to smile again,
I'd forgotten how long since when
My soul was filled with wonder;
I'd reliquished hope till one day then
My griefs were torn asunder.
Tired I was of forever defending
Throughout the long, dark night unending,
Till the dawn drew near against the night
To soothe my soul with mending;
And fixed my eyes on splendorous light.
