I remember that day
Like it was tomorrow
I witnessed the death
Of Joy and Sorrow
Not of me
But of the race
The day that changed
The human face
Vanity was the first to fall
For it was empty after all
And Pride there with it went
To face the same punishment
Needless then was Humility
It breathed its last in front of me
Shyness fell without a sound
And Confidence could not hold its ground
Happiness and Joy thus entwined
The hands of Fate they could not bind
On that day they were done in
Never to return again
Its own hand did in Depression
Destroyed itself, as did Aggression
Calmness went without a fight
To step into the blinding light
All the rest they died that day
...each in its own fitting way
One was left with beating heart
It was with us from the start
It was the cause of our creation
Still it stood this conflagration
Love I beheld as it still burned
By this emotion I have been spurned
I could not bear Love's taunting presence
The lack thereof my very essence
The act was done with no feeling
Love was sent backwards reeling
Fighting til the very end
The mortal wound it could not mend
On the day Emotion died
Love, my victim, was nullified
