In through an unimaginable vastness
Of twisting vine and blanketing mists
Down through thick emerald canopies
Where shadows form ghostly pools
And rosette jaguars devour the sun
A vanishing tribe
Lingers like a flickering afterimage
On the outskirts of civilization
Showered in momentary solace
At the very heart of a cloud forest womb
Clouds amass like silent warriors
Obscuring the skies like copal
We channel the thoughts of ancestors
Offer up gifts to the ancient rain god
And an arrow to penetrate the filament
A vanishing tribe
Flashes like distant heat lightning
In the recesses of our very souls
In the hollow bone of conch shells
At the very center of this eternal fastness
