Let's All Form our Own Government (A Poem of Reality)

Where is it said that we must obey the law,

when we were only given the law,

and did not write it?

Where is it said that the boundary set by shoreline or river is a boundary between men,

other than in the words "national border"?

Where is it said that we are not one nation on this planet?

Where is it said that any group cannot govern themselves,

or any individual follow a code of his own heart above the code pressed upon him from without?

Where is it said,

"Because you live here,

you must be like us."?

Where is it said that we cannot be govenments to ourselves, and smash the old laws,

and make ones that allow for the true common good,

one in which all men make the law,

and agree to it,

and revise it,

and do not enforce it on any but themselves?

These things are said only by the meek,

who will inherit the earth after all,

making all men meek,

unable to be firm,

finally only inheriting the earth,

but having no dominion over it,

or themselves,

for they become merely mute sheep.

These things are said,

only by the ones who benefit from saying it,

because it gives them dominion over the earth,

but it is an earth of mute sheep,

thus, they only hear themselves.

I agree with you on this piece!

I think this poem is incredible. My favorite phrase:

"but it is an earth of mute sheep,
thus, they only hear themselves."

Talk about a poem about reality; certainly is a slap in the face. Excellent write.
