Cinderella

Long overlooked and unrecognized,

Though your beauty cannot be disguised;

Cinderella, you need not worry,

For brighter days will come, surely.

Luck and fortune may remain unseen,

While life may not be all you dreamed;

But someday you will rise like a kite,

And find your place beneath the light.

In a world of grace and dignity,

You’ll be admired for your simplicity.

Cinderella, with your gentle heart,

You have carried hope from the very start.

I know someday your prayers will come true,

And happiness will finally find you;

And when your dreams are finally in view,

You’ll see the world was waiting for you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Using Cinderella as a metaphor for the overlooked and underestimated, the poem explores hope, grace, faith, and the possibility of a future in which kindness is finally recognized and dreams are given room to bloom.
