SOME LINES ABOUT MYSELF

A man who can stay without a woman,
A son who can honour his parents,
A father who can take care of his children,
A husband who was betrayed by his wife...

A friend who is a friend to his friends,
A fighter for truth right up to the end,
A patient soul bearing life's ups and downs,
A believer in God and not in the fiend....

Why must I convince any one about me?
Why must I pacify any one on one knee?
For what cause must I hide the real me?
The truth is plain for all who can see....

I am not naive nor am I keen,
To know what is unknown and unseen,
Unlike one who doubts and suspects me,
I am bold and gallant in my sincerity.

You have lived among dodgers and cheaters,
Even I have encountered many in this world,
Yet my friends of years are still friends,
And she who lost me longs for my cheers.

For what cause must I then go out of my way,
To satisfy you just on the whim of a day,
If you trust me not...I shall not entreat you,
To remain as my friend...for I hate word-play.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Life has taught me a lot about this world and relationships. I have always been stabbed in the back by those who called me their "best friend". Everybody in this world has shattered my trust except Donna Patricia...my most admirable and devoted friend...may God Almighty always bless her...Aameen.
This poem is inspired by the latest stab in the back...as is the poems I posted a day ago titled "Inward Peace" and "Trust and Mistrust". Like the proverbial donkey and the father and son...it is difficult to please everybody...but it is also most painful to be hurt by a friend...who called me "best friend".
