TO MUHAMMAD ALI THE BOXER

When Muhammad Ali the boxer --
-- The best to this day --
Climbed up into the ring,
His opponents just prayed,
For, they were all psyched out,
Even before the bout,
That is why they ended up,
Stopped or knocked out.

And when Ali, the great talker,
The boldest of them all,
Took the mike in his hands,
He looked even prettier,
Than he was in the ring,
Throwing his combinations,
To watch him and his doggerel,
Was a treat to his admirer.

Now Ali the true champion,
Of boxing in the world,
Has become a Sufi,*
A man of mysticism.
This makes him really special,
And better than before,
He has given up the world
And conquered temptation.

May God Almighty help him,
And guide him all the way,
And may his seeking soul find
Spiritual bliss with Him.
I have only this difference,
Between he and me,
That it's God Who's "The Greatest",
None can compare with Him.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Muhammad Ali aka Cassius Clay ruled the world of amateur and professional boxing like no one before or after him. He is the best of them all no doubt but still not "The Greatest" because it is only God Almighty who is "The Greatest" and none and nothing is comparable unto him. I admire Muhammad Ali like very few of his fans do but I differ with him when he calls himself the "Greatest" and I also differ with his naming of organization as "G.O.A.T" which is an abbreviation meaning "Greatest of All Times". His wife Yolanda says it means the "people" are the "greatest". I differ here too. It is not the people but only Allah/God Almighty who is "The Greatest" of all times. We are bound to perish and only God is the Omnipresent and the Greatest.
