THE WIND AND THE MOON (A collaboration with Lazeena)

LAZEENA

The wind was howling at the moon last night,
He lamented she was shining a little too bright,
For you see, the moon was in perigee,
Which brought her closer to earth, and easier to see.
I looked at the moon and saw her wearing a frown,
She thought the wind was trying to steal her crown,
The wind wore himself out, and finally died down,
Which left sister moon thinking, old wind a clown,
When I looked at the moon again, she had lost her frown
That night when I thought that she was
Especially deserving of her golden crown

EMMENAY:

The wind keeps howling when the moon shines bright,
I have been in such company for many a night,
Especially when the clouds gather to play hide and seek
With the shy moon floating on sometimes out of sight.
Yet the stars tell the moon not to get swayed
By the howling wind and not to be afraid
For,.even though the wind tries with all its might,
It cannot break past the space to dim its cool light.
The tavern door is kept open at such times by the saqi,
For the moon's lustrous softness adds to her mystery,
The night becomes romantic while all this happens,
And I miss you too while gazing at the heavens,
O my sweet friend you turned me off the tavern,
So I wave at the saqi not to keep the door open.
Your verses of the moon and the howling wind are scenic,
And a message from the fate-writer hides in it magic,
A call to join me and ward off our lingering loneliness,
Resounds as the howls of the wind get more frantic.
Perhaps a night may come when you and I are together,
Sharing our thoughts mingled with our laughter,
Maybe then the moon will be able to wear the golden crown,
And the howling wind will be tamed to be sombre.
