Sometimes It's Better That Wishes Don't Come True

Running blindly
Screaming bloody murder
Because you can't see a thing
And all you feel is the pain

The pane of the window
Open in front of you, holding onto it
Looking out at the moon with a low howl
And slowly loosening your hold

Your hold on the gun pointed at your head
Yet you still manage to pull the trigger
And I hear the click from miles away but not the bang
You are the only one who hears the ring

The ring is on your finger
As you soak in the hot water
You place it on top of the note
And reach for the blade

Reach for the blade of grass tickling your ear
As you look up at the stars for a sign
A sign that you should untie the knot in the noose
But instead you carry a chair over so you can reach

So you can reach the topmost shelf
Right up near the ceiling
That holds all the pills you need
To never turn back again

To never turn back again you need strength
But you have enough of it to stay on the path
You remember the old roads that were treacherous
And see a new beginning in front of you
You will never return down the old roads
Down to the bridges you burned
Because they insist that you go on
So you walk, happy that you kept getting pushed forwards
Happy that your story kept skipping and switching
Before you made it end
