Yellow, white, green, blue, and red luminaries dot the endless sea of night
Standing as lifeless sentinels
blinking, lighting—flickering to and fro—protecting and guarding the movements of the living
Their endless watch immune to gazes overcast their direction
Without them, night and darkness would overcome—undulating in cosmic rhythm
Yet, they limit, no! bind shadow making way the path of light
Oh! To see them! To really see them! How glorious the cage of their construction—so delicate, so fragile, so formidable
Alas, to see them is to defy God and nature when we, with metal wings, progress not as humans but as birds
