A man of no God prays today.
He reaches and grasps, pleads on high.
a voice is carried with no echo..
In an empty room, there is no reply.
A man of sorrow cries today,
his wife lay dying on a hospital bed.
He so desperate to save her life.
The questions swarm inside his head.
A man of guilt is tortured today,
with no answer to 'why'
Perhaps had he left on Sunday morn'...
But he is a man of no God.
A sobbing man sits alone in the room,
next to his newly-wedded wife.
He pleads through his heaving grief and dismay.
"Why couldn't you have taken my life?"
His face of sorrow, now flushed with tears.
His widowed soul never forgiving.
She couldn't be saved with the power of prayer.
How could he go on living?
For the second time, they are walked down the isle,
this time, she in her coffin.
He watches her lowered into the sands.
As the priest says ".....never forgotten....."
A man of anger is consoled today,
but there is no consolation,
she so young to be taken away...
Against the forces, he was defenceless.
A conflicted man, turned to God for answers,
and walked away, from an empty room.
