Wasted Love

My last was too controlling, the one before was worse

Love was never happiness, love was just a curse

They treated me as property, they treated me like dirt

I handed out my heart and soul just to end up hurt

One was so abusive, he thought I was his toy

Like a human punching bag, black and blue, no joy

It ended fast as it began and then the next man came

He promised me a million things, but it was all the same

He takes the cake for telling lies, he never kept it straight

Every day the story changed for reasons he was late

He had thought he'd blinded me, but still I saw the signs

I could smell her perfume when he walked in every night

Moving down along the line, there was one so possessive

He always had his eye on me like I was his obsession

He never let me out of sight, he followed me around

I dropped him when I got the chance for one who brought me down

He said I wasn't beautiful, told me I was dumb

Always made me feel so bad, with him I had no fun

Forgive me, but I'm skeptical, you might not be the one

And I don't want to give me heart for you to waste my love
