A long loud scream and broken glass
One false move and death comes fast
Mind racing quickly, heart falling prey
To the fear of losing her life today
Should she try to run? Should she stay and hide?
If she makes a mistake, will he take her life?
What made her the target of this man's rage?
Why did he choose her house as his stage?
Playing out a scene from his childhood days
His memories take him far away
He can still feel the knife slicing into his skin
His stepfather laughs and digs deeper in
Snaps back to reality, hunts for the girl
She means so much to his stepdad's world
A daughter made in forbidden love
She'll pay the price for what he's done
Tears in her eyes, she reaches the phone
To call 911, but there's no dial tone
There's a cell in her room, but she'll have to run
She just can't be caught, but oh no, here he comes
She runs into the bedroom, hides under the bed
Rapid memories of life flash inside her head
She knows that he's coming, but what can she do?
She can't make a sound, she can't make a move
His mind in and out, reality a blur
Confusion sets in and there isn't a cure
He knows what he wants, and he wants her dead
Animosity drowns all thats good in his head
Toward the bedroom he walks, knowing that's where she is
Under the bed, he's sure, there she hid
He lifts up the blankets, bends down to see
The girl's disappeared, where can she be?
She knew he was coming, so quietly she crept
Down the hall rather quickly and off to the left
She ran into the room, dialed on the cell
Policemen were coming to stop all this hell
If she could hold on just a little bit more
She'd make it out safe, put an end to his war
Sirens in the distance supply her with hope
She knows now she'll make it, she knows she can cope
Police rush the house, armed and prepared
To take down the man who shouldn't be there
He tries to run, he just can't be caught
They aim and yell "freeze!" and then there's a shot
Blood splatters and screams echo all through the place
They find the girl hiding with tears on her face
They help her up slowly and escort her away
A traumatic ordeal ends as does a long day
He's dead in a grave now, she's finally okay
The memories have almost all faded away
A few nightmares bring her back once in a while
But she knows he can't hurt her, and this brings a smile
She met up with her dad and her story she told
But knowing what he did to that man left her cold
Bitter right now, traumatized by his sin
But her life is a life and she's grateful within
