When they were together, wherever they went, people told her to take care of him - from his closest acquaintances to total strangers - they said in confidential tones "Take care of him." It wasn't until decades later, in a flash of insight, that she understood what those words really meant and that she had failed in her duty. Although they had long ago gone their separate ways, never speaking again, living at opposite ends of a continent, she made a vow - that she would watch over him from the inside and always keep him safe in her heart.
