He misunderstands the mechanics

   which reinforce misery

Steeped in self-pity, he is an avid votary

   of pain, a staunch supporter of suffering

My meanderings on the merits of choosing

   mind over matter are lost to him

He turns his deaf ear towards me

   and changes the subject

He doesn't believe in the esoterics

   of salvation
