Haunting memories from my past
Can't believe how these thoughts last
Fighting off my mournful tears
No one hears...
Do you remember when I laughed?
Do you remember when you cried?
Do you remember the life we had?
Why did you have to lie?
Lovers lost in a web of lies
Making all the others cry
Do they see me in my pain?
Do they know I'm not the same?
Do you remember when I laughed?
Do you remember when you cried?
Do you remember the life we had?
Your reasons no where in sight...
Straying off from the path
Getting lost in lover's lane
Reliving what plagues my mind
I now see what I left behind...
Do you remember when I laughed?
Do you remember when you cried?
Do you remember the life we had?
Do you remember when I died?
Author's Notes/Comments:
I wrote this I think, my junior year of high school. I was in this club called Rock Club. I did it because I have written so many lyrics for songs, but never had any music to go with them. I thought this club could help me, but they never ended up going anywhere. During one of our sessions, I wrote this song. It was to show the leader what I could do. I wrote this kind of quickly so he was impressed, hell, so was I! Hah! The people in the group thought it was too depressing though. Stupid people. Anyway there is an alternative ending...you can pick which one you like best. Either use the one I wrote in the poem or sub the last line with, "Do you remember when our love died?" If you have an opinion of which one sounds better please write me in a critique or something because I can't seem to decide which fits better. Thanks.
The repatition in this piece makes it obvious that this was written as a song. Also changing one line in the chorus of a song adds dynamic thought to the mind of the listener. It makes them think of what else he may have done to you. It's amazing what you can think of on the spot.
