Once in an old enchanted wood,
lay a shapeshifters trying to survive.
Who protected the forest from danger,
and kept their home alive.
One day a woman came into their realm.
Some shapeshifters changed into human form.
They fell in love with their bodies this way,
and didn't change back at the end of the day.
And others cast themselves away,
from this strange and new sight,
and begged their friends to change back,
so they could fade with the night.
Two of them, stubborn, they followed the girl
For her human form was so beautiful
She'd captured their hearts with her glowing charms
But the shapeshifters thought that she would do harm
And they saw a world so bright and new,
That they had never known before,
Even the air was different, shifting when they'd breathe.
despite the fact this wasn't their world, they vowed to never leave
Separated from their changeling family,
the world began to shift and bend.
No longer could they speak to their friends,
in a language that they could understand.
And their family couldn't understand,
that their brothers and sisters had changed.
So instead banished them from their home,
Neither side together, but neither side alone
The animal kingdom and nature bloomed.
And the humans lived their separate lives.
Between the two worlds became a great distance.
That once had to linked them together in life.
Permanently shifted to another form
Human and animal alike
they missed all their long gone friends
and their previous way of life.
