In a lifetime we have
Our ups and our downs
To death from birth.
In the morning,
We go to school
Taught to be our selves
Then turn to conformity
And told to shut up
We party, fall in love
And then we get hurt.
In the afternoon,
We find our true selves
Find a job, get married
Have children, quit your job
Have a mid-life crisis
Go grey, scream at kids
And then we retire.
In the evening,
We become grandparents
Find joy in little things
Celebrate a happy marriage
And the births of great-grand kids
Grow wrinkled and senile
And then we die.
