I'm looking at these pictures of you

Looking, wishing, hoping

That some day, some how, some way

You and your pictures will be mine

There you are, smiling at the camera

Smiling at me through a lens

Sending private, cherished messages through your eyes

I receive them, I know

Your bare chest, my hands, your smile

Don't you think we look happy?

Our smiles are calm, content, leisurely

We are eternity

You're so dramatic, so silly

With your arm thrust up over your head

I remember laughing so hard

Laughter I shared with you

You & I, cynical smiles

Daring the world to test us

Off camera, your hand holds mine

We'll take on the world

You've got your head on your pillow

And mine is next to yours

Expressionless faces, emotions not needed

I know what you feel

I've got my head in your lap

And you gaze down at me with liquid brown eyes

Brushing aside my hair with calloused fingers

Let's not leave this moment

I sit back and look at my handiwork

Pictures of you, my face pasted in

I smile and hold them to my breast

I'll cherish these false moments forever

Author's Notes/Comments:

I've been looking so long at these pictures of you that I almost believe that they're real.
