I lay there each night watching you sleep
thinking of just how lucky I am.
Yet in those thoughts, my mind wanders,
to another time when things began.
We thought neither loved us,
we let this somehow stay true
yet in those simple thoughts we shared each night
were the simple words I love you.
We spent many a night
and many an hour
wanting more than just the talks
that we shared together
But in those moments
you and I together
I knew something special
was growing there.
Yet simple thoughts led
to simple wants, desires,
simple things each of us
were wanting to share... love
