there's something so simplistic in the air
like beauty that twinkles at you knowingly
a wink in the dark that sets you afire
hand in hand over the deep green sea
so many things to see
mountains, caverns and little towns
but we sit separate, holding our frowns
does distance make the heart grow colder
no lie, the cruel don't mind
but i can't help but think on nights made of paper and ink
deciding between adjectives and verbs
leaving the rest open to critique and concrete hurt
this candle holds all the light i need
where hearts meet somewhere on pages
mixed signals and empty eyes
really just need some honesty, bravery
to help me realize
