cold october mornings
coffee while people-watching
a feeling soft upon my window
like a ghost shivering
if the hum of silence doesn't do it
if the chill of glass doesn't soothe it
the tension in my heart will snap
the world will crumble
but that's okay
if the memory fades, it was all mistakes
flooded passageways
places we couldn't stay
my lips still mirror yours
mocking me perfectly
repeat the motion daily
effectively deflate me
and that's okay
she can't let the memory fade
right or wrong, it stays the same
this time i won't stay
