Garden of the Hesperides

I found her in the midnight light
With eyes fixed upon delight

She flashed a sad smile awhile
In it I saw she’d faced many a trial

At the beast before her sword roared
With deadliness she’d have her reward

Rushing the dragon her grin thin
And grim, hard to think she won’t win

So fast it’s hard to see, her exceed speed,
In a single slice does the deed

Dropping the sword, running to the tree free
Of its ancient protector to decree

The golden apples she found bound
To have she plucks one without sound
