Escape seems essential
lest we dwell on the past
Upon the face we must stencil
A smile made of plastic that will last
For the music that plays on this night
speaks volumes to this broken heart
to share this pain, I quietly refrain
not wishing another to be torn apart
Sea winds still blow
other lovers’ moons still shine
what we had they’ll never know
unique was our love, yours and mine
Candlelight and crimson nights
cast shadows upon the bedroom wall
get out the pills and turn down the lights
pass me the bottle so I may chase them all again
away with the wind
Sleep will come tonight
As alcohol and Valium, kills memory and pain
and should I awake tomorrow,
once again to the sound of sorrow
please do not ask me to explain
