You came along
when I first started getting sick

coming unexpected, to a mommy too young
and welcomed deeply, my first great- grand-child

we grew so close, you and me
so important to each other, so deeply needed

I was there for you from your very first day
I watched you grow and learn and play

You so full of mischief and energy
and me so grateful for you to have and love

from the start you were so loving, caring and thoughtful
you knew I couldnt always do a lot
so from the time you were very small
you helped me do things hard for me to do

four years later you're still my gift
more precious to me than gold

God knew I needed you to love
and that you would need me as well

when the day comes to an end
and you put your precious little arm around my neck as you fall asleep
you make my joy complete
