Those Younger Years

Ferris wheels

Memories

Of blinding lights

Tea cups turn

Feels like a lap around the world

We’d shoot to the sky with dreams just as high

We never thought that life

Would be the roller coaster we feared the most

Ups and downs without the thrill or the joy

Cotton candy

Love and hot cocoa

Water rides and

Happy smiles

Oh those younger years

Do you remember how big the world used to seem

When we believed in fairytales

A love like Romeo and Juliet

Before we knew the truth

That there is no once upon time

No happy ever after

Life used to be bright and yellow

Now it seems black and blue

Everything is tuned down

All the colors and the hues are turning gray

I’ll just have to accept life as it comes my way
