Autumn Tears

Beautiful and still

Corrupted, unfulfilled

She stares out the windowsill

Such little joy

Can be seen in those ebony eyes

Such little pride can be seen

Through her weaving maze of lies

Such time wasting on silly things

Oh but we love her

That precious porcelain doll

Don’t drop her; she quite can’t grasp a fall

Oh but she’s quite real and unique

Pains in her heart begin to twinge

Because she remembers, she never stops thinking of him

She wonders her way out of the house

Her prison, feeling overwhelmed, a new freedom

Baby steps are taken

Curious eyes look all about

Thinking thoughts she shouldn’t be allowed

Auburn hair flowing gently in the breeze

The cold pinching the color in her cheeks

Forgetting all of her haunting sins

Towering trees stand high above

Colors, colors gleaming in sight

Red, yellow, orange and green

The leaves they fall

And tantalize her curiosity it seems

They stir around her body

A few tangled in her hair

A weak smile begins to bite at her frown

And for once her head is held up high

Not submitted to the ground.

An eerie sound breaks the serenity

A raven screeching at her insanity

Thus in fright, she runs without thinking

That a silly bird could cause such guilt

Her white lace nightie following behind

The air getting colder, the sky getting darker

Nothing can be seen but her glossy startled eyes

Nothing can be heard but the raven’s taunting cries

Tripping over twigs, her nightie getting caught

She tumbles down, scraping her knees

The madness cackling inside her.

The broken heart and loss aching deep within.

Crawling on her hands and knees

Blood staining the once white gown

She feels the leaves and dirt through her fingertips

And as she looks up

Biting her lips, warm red liquid trickling down

She’s face to face with her lovers gravestone

A blood curdling scream escape her lips

Tracing the gravestone with her finger

Curling up into a ball

Another dagger to her heart

More pain she cannot try and forget

She’s lost it now

The raven perched beside her

She closes her eyes

And whispers

“Take me with you you foul creature”

The dawn rises, a new light

Her last breathe was taken

The last leaf of autumn fell upon her face

The coldness swallowed up her life in one night

Frozen in a ball, frozen autumn tears

She died, in her own illness

Forever bound to this world

apart of it and not

She waits for her lover to return, frozen to his corpse

Her howls become the winds furry

Her breath the fog

she'll never leave

and he will never return

It’s just the end

It was just her end

On that chilly autumm night
