Like fireflies I linger longingly
Hovering above the horizon
Playing songs along the harp strings
Of the unmoving constellations.
Watching as the world rotates slowly
Life goes on solemnly. Never ceasing
Somewhere a baby is being born
And another is being made
A grandmother has died
And a husband has lied,
About where he has been....
And a wife decided to believe him.
Children have cried, longing for a mother
But daddy knows she won't return.
And a young woman smiles
Into the eyes of a new found love
While another waves goodbye to one
She has known for seven years.
None of them stopping to realize
Life goes on.
