I never thought,
This would happen to me,
You walked away,
I had only just opened the door.

You left me standing,
My heart on my sleeve,
Tears escaping my eyes,
You drove into the night.

Am I supposed to wait,
For the man who never comes?
How long do I stand?
Silent rain falling around.

You left me just as I realized,
It was only you I needed.
I would have followed you anywhere you had to go,
I would have stayed just to remain by your side.

But you are gone,
And I'm just a fool in the rain,
A lonely shadow in streetlight,
Missing you tonight.
