How did I get into this maze
I’ve staggered now for countless days
through hallways dark and chambers grim
a labyrinth dank, drear and dim
I hear its snuffling labored breath
as it hunts me to the death
the goat-horned clubfoot savage beast
hungry for its human feast
Rats run squealing in the gutters
Torchlight flickers, flares and sputters
Panic rises, I choke it back
Stumble onward in the black
Now the choice has come to this
behind me death, before, abyss
I turn to face impending doom
then step back into the gloom
Down I pitch into the void
onto the rocks to be destroyed
amid the echoes of my scream
I waken from my dreadful dream
