If I could leave this world,
For just a day,
To see what it's like to slip away,
And for the first time
Be truly free
From all the burdens weighing down on me,
Maybe I'd understand.

If for a single day,
I could leave it all behind,
And finally, finally, ease my mind.
Finally be done
With all the fears,
And all the painful aches and senseless tears,
Maybe I'd understand.

If I could just escape
From all the craze
All the hatred that sets our eyes a'blaze,
If suddenly I could
Just disappear,
And see who cares when I'm not here,
Maybe I'd understand.

Life is precious,
Priceless too,
It's not something I can just redo.
If I only knew
The reason why,
It's so hard to deal with hurt sometimes,
Maybe I'd understand.
