I run my fingers through my hair.
raise the pall mall to my lips
flick the lighter
taking a long, loving drag I watch
as the embers glow
watching as the ash accumulates on the end
then gently tapping the edge it all flutters away
I pray Her memories will do the same.
as the nights are ever so lonely now
sitting in the dark reliving memories
remembering the tenderness of of her touch as it
lingers on in vain
along with the desire to feel it once again
but desire leads only to fantasy
with a fresh breath of regret
followed by cheap whiskey
the sight of cold bed sheets
brings Me back to reality
breakfast made up with Luke warm coffee
with a side of cigarettes
with that
I begin a new day
