Survival

Folder:
2009

Foot gently grazing these jersey knit sheets,

Tasks and errands left to complete

Past, present and future encompass my mind

With worries and fears if all will be fine.

Stomach churning without any cease

No sweet tune to give my release

Tossing and turning for nights without end

Scholarship videos the new vocal trend

Fall employment offers opportunity

Living arrangements in fellow community

Five more years, this mess not yet finished

Not always loving the plate I've been dished

Thoughts, memories, and plans abound

And I realize I merely wish you around

Strong arms reaching and wrapping

Our nights together, we never stop laughing

Oh, into the curves of your body I curl

Feeling as safe as a little girl

Back to a wonder year without fear or worry

No matter solved by men and their jury

Quietly I close my eyes

Thanking the Lord of sea and sky

For giving to me the greatest of all

A love that survives from winter to fall

Author's Notes/Comments:
