The Carpe Diem Days There's a spectacular city on the California coast that I fell in love with at the very first look
I quickly realized that I don't want this city to be just another chapter in my life, I want it to be the entire book
From atop Nob Hill, I saw the cable cars reaching out to touch the sparkling stars
Just to live here, I would gladly sleep on the Mission streets, I would even lock myself behind Alcatraz's bars
I've seen people in the Castro wearing nothing but flowers in their hair
I've seen your splendid skyline play peekaboo when it hides behind the summer fog in the air
It was right around the time that I was watching the lazy sea lions on pier #39
That I knew in my mind that I would sacrifice anything just to make you mine
And it was right at the corner of Ashbury and Haight
Where I realized that, in fact, a city could indeed be my soulmate
Without hesitation, I will gladly pack my bags and gave all of my other possessions away
Just so I could wake up everyday to a picture perfect view of your breathtaking bay
Your dollhouses are perfectly lined up and the painted ladies always manage to paint a smile on my face
You are the Golden State's golden trophy, and nothing comes close to you in the battle for first place
Yerba Buena, please take me in your arms, if I must I will get on my knees to beg and plead
I will burn all of my bridges back home, for the Golden Gate is the only one I will now ever need
And now when I travel, any other place I see only makes me realize even more that you are truly the best
In my eyes, you are definitely the crown jewel of the entire globe, not just of all the West
San Francisco, I am convinced you are Heaven on Earth, and the proof is right in the sky
The fog rolling in through the bay are really the souls of former citizens that didn't want to say "goodbye"
And San Francisco, when this wandering boy comes to call you home, will you please open your golden doors to your golden shores to welcome me?
Just like the saying says, I left my heart in San Francisco, and I will do anything to reunite with it for infinity
