Problem Is (the early years)

Just an "ordinary" day,

For this "ordinary" boy,

Living this "ordinary" life,

With his "ordinary" problems.

...Problem is, there's no such thing as "ordinary"...

"I'm so ugly, why can't I have a normal looking face?" Cries the boy.

...Problem is, there's no such thing as "normal"...

"Why can't I be like everyone else?" He asks himself.

...Problem is, everyone is different...

"How come no one loves me?" He asks God.

...Problem is, his soul mate just beyond the horizon is asking herself that same question...

"Why do I live in such a dull, gray planet?" He ponders.

...Problem is, he only stares at the sidewalk...

"Why can't I find a friend?" He thinks to himself.

...Problem is, his eyes are not open wide enough to see the people reaching out to him...

"Why can't I have the courage and strength to make myself heard?" A silly thought travels through his mind.

...Problem is, the silence gets him nowhere...

"Why can't I escape from my rusty cage?" He wonders.

...Problem is, he doesn't know that the key is inside his heart...

"Looks like there's no hope for me in the future," says his stream of consciousness.

...Problem is, tomorrow is a brand new day...
