"The Andromeda Strain"

by Jeph Johnson

A sharp pain stabbed through my stomach yesterday too. Before our lazy liaison last night.
Today as I recline my belly buckles with laughter. Each rumble a miniature orgasm that other parts of my body can no longer rally.
Smile muscles flex, yanking to poses your Yogi would envy.
The knot unties in my pancreas briefly as the noxious unpleasantries pass. My smile twists. I shake my head - your aroma blossoms with the fragrance of springtime next to the stench I seek to hide.
More laughter. I have to. There are no other options. I'm overjoyed I've learned to laugh in this life. I have more laughs to share with you - hopefully not all in relation to farts!
Your presence may be just a portion of that springtime air, but I breathe in every season when we touch.
I live a hundred lifetimes when you're in my embrace. I fall in fascination. In frantic inspiration unrestricted by reality. Terminal begins to rhyme with eternal.
