Easy Street

We've both been down a road or two
In this life there are so many directions
North and South
East and West
There's Rand McNally and the GPS
Landmarks and roadsigns
Asphalt and dirt roads
Bike paths and Railways
The Avenue and the Boulevard
Spent many miles on highways
and footsteps on Main
Never once passed a street called Easy
Wore out my soles soul searching
in the Big City, and the One Horse Town.
Traveling this life
Day by Day
Moment to Moment
Never said it would be easy, but
the memories of yesterday
guide me back,
a different path than the way I came.
Walk beside me
Let me in on the dream
Let our map be the stars,
Speedbumps and potholes
Won't slow us down
Tomorrow is coming, but
the future beyond
I can't speak for what it holds
Sunset and Moonlight
Moonshine and a bottle of wine
Beaches and Backyards
Crossed paths become one
Won't say it'll be easy
One foot in front of the other
Side by side
Hand in hand
Together this time

Rooster will forever be to me

Rooster will forever be to me the father of Easy Street. When he sings it with his fiancee and Carol Burnett - the pillars of the mind just fills with ideas of that pipe dream. Your insightful and thoughtful poem gives more depth of consideration and wraps it up with an apt bow in the 5 last lines. And that shall stay with the reader, "together, this time." Thanks for sharing.
