I always wanted a million friends
So it would never matter if someone didn’t show
There would always be someone there
Now that I’ve had a million friends
I see that the only ones there are still
The true blue ones
They may not be glamorous
They may not have money to go out all the time
Or always have the extra time
But when it counts you know they are only a phone call away
You know they won’t ditch you to go out drinking
When you just need someone to be near
They know you’ll fuck up sometimes
Because they do it too
In the end they’ll be the ones standing at your grave
Missing you
Talking about how amazing you were
Their the ones who will always remember your birthday
And how much fun you had that one time at that one place
They won’t stop talking to you because they got a new boyfriend
Or break off plans because their other friends are doing something better
They drag you out when your down
And remind you who you are when you get too high and mighty
They sit with you while your sister goes into labor
And automatically declare it their family
Sure sometimes you hate them for being right
And you know they’ll always say I told you so
But every time you cry over some idiot
They’ll be there with booze and movies to make you forget
These are the friends we, I
Take for granted
The ones we don’t call for weeks at a time because our new friends are more exciting
These are the friends that you have to treat like the most precious thing on Earth
These are the friends that you don’t want to lose
Only to realize you’ll never have that again
Know what you have before its gone
Because these friends are worth more than all the money in the world
