The Long Dark Road

The long dark road...

It unwinds before us.

Leaping out of the

blackness,

guiding us on.

We are beyond exhaustion,

both mental and physical,

 but we must continue on,

deeper into the blackness.

The long dark road offers

no hope ahead,

only a shadowy escape from

the blackness we've

already left behind.

But we must continue on,

no matter how long,

no matter how far it takes us.

No matter our dread of

what lays ahead.

We will hunch in our seats,

and lean into the endless

stretch of night.

Going against all reason,

down the long dark road.
