The setting is before the time of normal classes, a time where shaman’s and samurai and alike ruled the land. Humans were of little presence and names such as his were treated unfairly. But, a fatal civil war was about to break loose the day he reached the age of 8. His father Barren Thundershot, a samurai from Damara, was always talking of the right to live in these lands and fight for their honor. Slate was a young boy with dark brown hair and solid blue eyes like nothing anyone had seen. His skin was pale and a few un-noticeable birthmarks hidden on the back of his neck. He was a Normal young boy in Damara attending the human shaman school. At the age of 16 he graduated and became a Shaman his domains were Fury and Hero.
That very next week he spent getting his scrolls and other items bought and crafted, he was well prepared to go on his adventuring a custom to graduates. A flame came out of nowhere as large as the school itself, chaos broke loose as characters of all sort ran around trying to flee the area. From the burning flame stepped creatures beyond anything he had ever imagined. His father standing drew his sword and said run child run! In panicked tone. Slate saw a group of two or three teenagers who had graduated a few years before him running, he followed them. He was right at their heals as they ran into the forest, fire was all around them. Vision was clouded and fury of panic was in full effect. Ahead of them was a drop off of about ten feet and not a single one of them noticed it. They all fell and all of a sudden a bright green flash erupted. They had fallen into an interplanner one way portal. Slate landed on a rock which was floating about five feet above another larger rock from which the others landed on.
All the others were shamans and one samurai lad, all boys. In the distance a fight was going on between the creatures that invaded our land and another strange race. Beyond that was a city. This place was unbalanced in some sort because all around them there were flames, rocks, and water just floating in the air. One of the creatures saw the boys and started towards them. The samurai told the others to stand back. This samurai was glowing by the point the creature hit him. He must have had three or four spells cast on him. No effect endured as expected as the creature tore though his armor this samurai barely took one hit because he went to one knee. This creature must have been wounded though because after the other cast fireballs and such spells it started to bleed and slow its attack. Slate jumped down and tried to help his spells really not doing any affect as he healed the samurai as much as he could. In the end it was just Slate and the wounded samurai another green flash happened in the sky and human body slammed into the creature downing him for good.
This was the end of their imitate danger because the huge fight was farther away now. This unknown person to whom he fought side by side with introduced himself as Sinaku Orgimra. They inspected the bodies and the human was carrying a book of the Doomlord. Apparently he was here to find their order. Let’s find this order and return to them this book. Maybe they will help us survive in these lands. Said Sinaku. Slate learned as they preyed on the wounded creatures after the battle was over that the only way to survive was to learn more barbaric ways of fighting they stole everything they could hold and tried to use it anyway they could.
They spent weeks camped out side the city waiting to hear about theses Doomlords. Finally, all the waiting paid off as Slate heard of where their temple was it had been captured from the githzeari by saald when they entered the plane of limbo. They approached the temple with the book held high. To their surprise they were not attacked they were not shunned or anything they returned the book and told tales of their nights outside the city walls and what they over heard and about the plans the githzeari were talking about. Even though they were not nearly as strong or as profound as their newly found ally’s they learned all they could, before long the Doomguard as they were know became Slate’s brethren. He never forgot his roots though still practicing his arts as a shaman. Years went by his knowledge was slow but accurate. Among his time with the Doomgaurd he destroyed buildings shared gold, with others and upheld his allegiance to the Doomlord himself. Sundering weapons became his forte. In his time there he aged to the age of 32. Sixteen years he spent with these brethren. The time had come for him to discover the fate of his relatives. It was time to leave the Doomgaurd. Though Sinaku decided to stay, he was determined to leave.
He left with an Adamantine Berserker Great sword, breastplate of light fortification, a ring of the floating fist, and everything else he had came with. His time in limbo would never be forgotten because as a gift he was given a book of the doom guard to teach him further. The portal he went though must have been unstable because the flash of light seemed brighter then before. He landed on a mountain rolling downward to a forest. As he gained his footing he started face to face with a badger animal. He made no sudden movements and started to disarm himself as to be of no threat to the animal. He had killed so many in the other plane he would not do this again, if he could help it. The badger did not move still staring him in the face. He sat down and began to meditate. The creature investigated his equipment and realized that this human was of no threat and sat down a ways away by a tree. I reached for some food and began eating and left some on the ground in front of me. The damaran shaman named this animal Madrid and was happy the first experience in the real world was not a bad one. Madrid never left Slate’s side.
The new pair headed to the first city they could. It was the city of sundabar where they learned the setting was a few 1000 years in the future and all the records for that encounter with his village was in the city of Waterdeep. Some armor and items were bought for Madrid and their bond grew. Slate came to mount Madrid and headed to Waterdeep. All these places were new to his knowledge his time seemed to be long long ago.
