Passing Through
Through cosmos passing dark and clear
a blue green marble ventures near;
Speeding through the great expanse
so comfortable with the millionth chance.
Not conscience of the complex signs
and unwilling to accept a smart design.
Through eons passing every dawn
a human signature is drawn;
What is done today but gone so fast
a record kept on scrolls to last.
Our stamp on life for all to see
look up, we are humanity.
We cry to something why are we here?
our own obscurity is what we fear;
Searching endlessly for what will last
not knowing that the die is cast.
To pass through life in temporal grief
a prayer each day to find relief.
Forbearing long and foresight clear
eternal recompense so near;
Who we are will have no claim
but what we do will hide the shame.
Acknowledge Him who came before
standing now in the open door.
Looking up in the darkest night
amongst the stars so vast and bright;
What we do today our children hear
what is tomorrow they should not fear;
The Light has come that all may see
look up, we are humanity.
